MVI celebrates region’s progress at annual ceremony

With over 200 people in attendance, the most since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mon Valley Initiative celebrated the past year of progress and an incredible group of community members and organizations.

MVI’s Annual Dinner and Community Awards ceremony took place on October 17 at the McKeesport Palisades Event Center. Every year, the event provides an opportunity for communities throughout the Mon Valley region to come together in celebration, honoring the programs and people that are the backbone of the Mon Valley region.

The Regional Partnership Awards, chosen by MVI’s Board of Directors, were given to vendors of Mon Valley Initiative’s Produce Marketplace, which has now served the Clairton area for over five years. The vendors are crucial partners in making the making the market a reliable, one-stop-shop for local residents.

Other awards were given to Thomas Wayne Graham by MVI’s Workforce Development and Financial Coaching team and a number of individuals and organizations nominated by local community development corporations and members of the community.
