Need assistance paying your rent? We can help

If you’re a renter who lost your job due to the coronavirus pandemic, and you need help applying for rental assistance, call MVI.

Allegheny County and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency are administering the programs, created under the state’s Rent Relief Program and the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.

As a member of the Public Benefits Resource Navigators Network, Mon Valley Initiative can help you complete the application.

To qualify, you must have become unemployed after March 1, or lost at least 30 percent of your income due to reduced work hours or wages.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30, but assistance will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, until funding runs out.

People who work in the gig economy or who do not get traditional paychecks do qualify, but may have to provide additional written documentation to prove income loss.
