A Friday lunch program in Clairton offers more than a snack—it also provides connections to local services, including home repairs and workforce counseling.
Maddie Nagel, Clairton Cares coordinator and MVI community outreach specialist, said “grab and go” lunches are offered through a partnership between United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Eat ’n Park.
The lunches are available for people of all ages from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Century Townhomes and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Pine Run Church.
Recently, at Century Townhomes, as Nagel helped distribute lunches, she also told people about a program offered through Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh that provides free home repairs for Clairton residents who qualify.
“I have been weaving in outreach for local services when people come for lunches,” Nagel says. “During the hour I was there, I spoke with three homeowners about the program and gave out around 40 lunches.”
