MVI has a HUD-certified housing counselor on staff who meets with clients 1-on-1 to discuss if homeownership is right for them, how to build their credit and improve their chances of receiving a mortgage, and what down payment and closing cost assistance programs are available. All of our services at MVI are free of charge.

As an adopter of the acclaimed National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling, our Housing Counseling Program is designed to provide high-quality services that are provided by a HUD-certified Housing Counselor approved by both the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA).

Since 2005, Mon Valley Initiative has also been a HUD-approved housing counseling intermediary agency, providing HUD grant funding to a national network of housing counseling agencies that provide the full range of housing counseling and education services.
