Revitalizing Communities

Since our first housing development nearly four decades ago, Mon Valley Initiative has focused on providing a built environment that strengthens communities based on direct input from community members. This includes providing safe, affordable housing options and revitalizing neighborhood business districts.

  • Real Estate Development – MVI has a long history and proven track record of providing quality homeownership opportunities to the communities it serves, both by rehabilitating older structures and by constructing new homes. Our team also renovates other important community infrastructure, such as commercial spaces and public recreation areas.

  • Affordable Rentals – Mon Valley Initiative’s rental portfolio includes 162 residential units in Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Most rental units are income-restricted, and Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) are welcome.

  • Commercial Properties – MVI owns and manages nearly 20 affordable commercial spaces in Braddock, East Pittsburgh, Clairton, and Charleroi. In Clairton, as part of the Clairton Neighborhood Partnership Program (NPP), Mon Valley Initiative also helps advertise commercial spaces not owned by MVI.
