MVI celebrates 35 years and honors community members

On October 19, Mon Valley Initiative held its Annual Dinner and Community Awards Ceremony at the Circuit Center and Ballroom, IBEW Local 5 Building with 175 people in attendance.

The ceremony marked 35 years since MVI began serving the region, honoring the milestone with the theme of “Reflection.”

“As we celebrate this current achievement, it is important to also remember the past…We are reflecting on the progress that Mon Valley Initiative has made and the hard work of several individuals and organizations over the past 35 years — without whom, our work would not have been possible,” Laura Zinski, CEO, said at the ceremony.

 

This year’s awardees included Mary Carol Kennedy, Heinz Award for Community Service; PNC Bank, Regional Partnership Award; and Superior Home Care, Employer Partner of the Year Award; as well as the Community Partner of the Year Awards given to Lee Davis of Greater Valley Community Services and the Greater Valley Coalition Against Violence, Ciora Thomas of SisTers PGH, Wendi Rost-Hellein of West Newton, and Nikki Williams of East Pittsburgh.
