FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
“Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful” Funds a Paint Project at North Braddock’s Recycle Park
NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa., September 16, 2015 – North Braddock’s local Community Development Corporation (CDC), North Braddock Cares, Inc. (NBC), will host a painting day at Recycle Park on Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m., thanks to a Fresh Paint Days Pennsylvania grant from Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful!
Recycle Park, located at the corner of Bell Avenue and Verona Street in North Braddock, was once a beautiful, fully-functioning park, but the years have taken a toll on it. It now contains only the skeletons of old playground equipment. Projects such as Fresh Paint Days Pennsylvania assist NBC in revitalizing Recycle Park and giving it its “second life.”
NBC has cultivated strong borough support for the painting of the Recycle Park wall along Verona Street and Rebecca Avenue, which the borough has demonstrated by preparing the wall at Recycle Park for painting. To tap into their growing network of community volunteers, NBC also plans to engage the children involved in the local Gardweeno! project and students from Propel Braddock Hills High School in need of community service. NBC’s volunteer engagement efforts through this Fresh Paint Days Pennsylvania program are just the first steps in reaching their larger goal of empowering the community to achieve their own vision for change.
In case of rain, the painting day will be moved to Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m.
This project is funded in part by a grant provided by Keep PA Beautiful, Glidden, and The Home Depot. Fresh Paint Days Pennsylvania is “a program designed to provide community groups with paint and painting supplies, enabling them to renew a community structure in need into something beautiful through the application of fresh paint and a lot of elbow grease!” Projects funded by this grant program, such as this one in North Braddock, must take place between September 1st and 30th, 2015.
